OKZZ Cricket Betting Exchange: Back and Lay Basics
Quick Summary
- On an exchange, people bet against each other rather than against a bookmaker.
- Backing means betting an outcome happens; laying means betting it does not.
- Laying carries a liability, which can be much larger than the stake.
- We could not confirm an exchange on OKZZ; check the cricket section.
A betting exchange is a different kind of market. Instead of taking a price from a bookmaker, you match your bet with someone who holds the opposite view. Cricket is one of the most popular sports on exchanges in South Asia, and terms like back, lay and liability come up often. This guide explains them with examples in Taka. We could not confirm whether OKZZ offers an exchange, so check its cricket section before planning around one.
Backing versus laying: which side am I on?
Backing is a normal bet. You bet that something will happen, such as Bangladesh winning, and if it does you are paid at the matched price.
Laying is the reverse. You act like the bookmaker and bet that something will not happen. If Bangladesh do not win, you keep the backer's stake. If they do win, you pay out the backer's winnings.
What is liability, and why does it matter?
Liability is the amount you could lose on a lay bet. It is calculated as the backer's stake multiplied by the odds minus one.
| Lay odds | Backer's stake | Your liability | You win if it loses |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.50 | ৳1,000 | ৳500 | ৳1,000 |
| 3.00 | ৳1,000 | ৳2,000 | ৳1,000 |
| 6.00 | ৳1,000 | ৳5,000 | ৳1,000 |
How do exchanges make money?
Instead of building a margin into the price, exchanges usually charge commission on net winnings in a market. The rate depends on the platform, so check its terms. Because there is no built-in margin, exchange prices can look better than bookmaker prices, but commission narrows the gap.
Prices only exist if someone else is willing to take the other side. In quiet markets, you may not get your bet matched at the price you want.
Tip: before you confirm a lay bet, look at the liability figure, not just the stake. That number is your real risk.
Does OKZZ have a cricket exchange?
We could not confirm it. Some sites in the region offer an exchange alongside a standard sportsbook, others offer only fixed-odds betting. Open the OKZZ cricket section and look for back and lay columns, which are the clearest sign of an exchange.
If you only find fixed odds, the cricket odds guide explains how to read them. Test cricket betting and live cricket betting cover the markets where exchanges are most often used, and the cricket betting overview has the rest.

Frequently asked
Is laying riskier than backing?
It can be. With a back bet, the most you can lose is your stake. With a lay bet, you can lose your liability, which grows with the odds and may be far larger than what you hope to win.
Why did my exchange bet only partly match?
There was not enough money on the other side at your price. The unmatched part stays open until someone takes it or you cancel it.
Is an exchange the same as a fancy market?
Not exactly. Fancy markets are session or runs-based bets often seen on South Asian sites, and they may be offered by a bookmaker or on an exchange. Check how each one settles.
Does OKZZ charge exchange commission?
We could not confirm whether OKZZ runs an exchange or any commission rate. If one is offered, its terms will show the commission rules.
Can I trade a cricket match on an exchange?
Some people back at one price and lay at another to lock in a result. It needs fast decisions and good understanding of liability, and it can still lose money.
